Lordswood 5 v 0 Borden Village

Tuesday 16th December 2008

A fine win for Lordswood saw them move up to 2nd in the Kent Valley Youth League South on Tuesday night.

Lordswood started off looking quite rusty, having not played since 23rd November, and it took some time for them to get some consistent passages of play. They always looked too strong for Borden, although credit to the opposition who never gave up. Lordswood went in at half time 2-0 to the good, but some poor finishing from 4 very simple chances, including a penalty, meant the scoreline could and should have been greater.

"It was a good workout following a lack of games," said manager Andy Slade. "Hopefully it will get us in the mood for Sunday's Kent Cup 3rd Round Match against Bromley. This will be the 4th time we've tried to get this fixture played!"

The winner of Sunday's game will face Corinthian at home the following week. Should Lordswood lose they will face Margate at home in the League instead.

Lordswood are due to play away to Dover in the Challenge Cup on the 4th January, instead of the originally scheduled Home tie against top of the table Canterbury.
