Sat 25 Oct 2008  Bulmers Cider Kent Premier League Cup - 2nd Round, 1st Leg
Lordswood FC 0
Erith Town 3

Erith Town can go into the second leg with confidence after winning the first leg eventually with ease, while Lordswood have got an uphill task to retrieve the situation.

The game started slowly with the strong wind the winner, Lordswood had the better of the first 20 minutes without causing Jack Bradshaw in the Erith goal any problems. The first real chance of the game came in the 25th minute when Rowan Arnott passed out to Darryl Hollington who miscontrolled it. Wayne Grizzle challenged him and the ball spun towards goal forcing Arnott to catch it under the bar under pressure. In the 32nd minute Ashley Douglas ran forward and his shot went just wide. Lordswood’s first real chance came in the 36th minute when Hollington took a free kick quickly and passed to Dan Waldron. Waldron ran forward before crossing low to the edge of the area to Darren Bridges, but his first time volley sailed just over the bar.

The second half started like last week with Erith coming out quicker after a blast from their manager. In the 46th minute a corner to the back post saw Aran Hayrettin head just wide. In the 50th minute an Erith free kick into the area was flicked on by a Lordswood defender causing Arnott to tip over the bar. In the very next minute Lordswood scored a hand of God goal when Kevin Skinner crossed into the area for Adam Whitnall, whose hand forced the ball into the net. An action which saw him booked. Erith took the lead in the 69th minute when a ball forward found Marcus Cassius in the area. His shot was pushed out by Arnott, but Douglas following up, shot home. Erith were now in control, and with Lordswood committing players forward this allowed Erith to counter attack with menace. In the very next minute Adam Young collected a long ball, cut inside and chipped towards Cassius, but his shinned shot went over the bar from 8 yards. Seven minutes later Lordswood had a half chance when Kevin Skinner 20 yards out saw his goal bound shot deflected for a corner. Another chance fell to Cassius in the 80th minute when a ball into the area was back heeled by Douglas into the path of Cassius, but his shot went over the bar. Erith finally got their second goal when Cassius skipped his way into the area before being fouled and a penalty was awarded, Cassius picked himself up and shot into the bottom left hand corner. The third goal came in the 88th minute when a poor Lordswood throw level with the edge of their own area was thrown into the path of Dan Parrish, who latched onto it and shot home.
