Steve joined Lordswood aged 12 in 1975 and played junior football until progressing to the Lordswood senior teams at 18, he also played youth team football at Gillingham and Maidstone and he made his first team debut for Lordswood against Bearsted in 1981 aged 18 and played his last game for the club in 2000.
He was an attacking left full back in the Stuart Pearce/Danny Mcgrain/Kenny Sansom mould and made the number 3 shirt his own for many seasons and played in some of the most successful Lordswood teams from the 80 and 90s that moved through the Kent County League structure until promotion to the Kent League in 1996.
In 2000 he also started coaching his son’s team then Lordswood Under 13s and he took this team to Under 18s including 2 seasons in the Kent Youth League he then helped bring along another under 18s team in the Kent Youth League and coached them for 2 seasons with Dean Sutcliffe in his time as under 18s a number of these players have gone on to play first team or reserve football. Last season Steve was with the reserves and was assistant to Steve Arnold.
